GREAT HORNED OWL

When the owl encounters something dangerous or unfamiliar, it puts on a display of how big and ferocious it is by puffing out its feathers. Here the owl is attempting to perform this display after seeing the shadow of some birds above the enclosure. Looks like the owl has a lot to learn. Photo taken 7/8/01.
